Rio Tinto Stadium

Got to ride down with our Sports reporters and cover the first RSL game in Rio Tinto Stadium. To say the least it was a complete BLAST!!! Between hanging out with Trent, Mike, Jeff, Scott, Doug, and Michael, I had a great time and it's a real pleasure working with some of the best shooters in the state if not the country.

Javier's Profile

Like I've said before I really dig taking food shots. Hahaha

More Swarm

Three more images I liked out of the take during the Swarm at Bear River.

Bear River in a Swarm of Journalists

I covered two high schools for Swarm over the past couple of weeks. Now for clarification we go in for only one day and shoot our tails off. Then two weeks later we go to another school and do it all over again. Then two weeks after that apx. we publish the whole thing in our two editions. I usually end up shooting a little over 2,000 frames throughout the day having fun with the students and reliving what HS was all about for me ten years ago. I feel these are the most challenging assignments of the year at times but usually with the greatest pay off and photo play we'll get all year.

A School of Swimmers

Every six months our paper "Swarms" a school. Two photogs, two videographers, and about a half a dozen reporters. Hence you will be seeing a lot of high schoolers on this blog over the next few days. Here is one of my assignments at Bear River. SWIM TEAM.

Fire Ops 101

Found Santa opps I mean the commish here using the jaws of life and thought it was a cool image. The boss didn't think much of it but that's ok, I dig it.

Volleyball Volleyball

As you may know I'm really working on trying to get a VB Portfolio image. So, if you have any tips, tricks or suggestions please feel free to toss em' this way.

Golfin'

Region 1 Golf is the shit and I didn't even really realize it. After covering a couple of other Regions I found myself thinking back to Region 1 and going "yeah, those kids are gooood compared to these ones". Not saying that most of em' couldn't beat me but that's another story.

I fought a deer and the deer won :(

This gentleMan was nailed by a deer running across 12th street in Ogden awhile back. He was riding his modified Harley which is now in the shop to say the least.

Soccer Spot On

Top Image: Yeah that ball nailed me and my 400mm. Even received an E-mail asking if I was alright. lol. Other than that a pretty typical soccer game.

VFW Shindig

It was hard making images at this thing. Very little of it was organized and almost no one showed up. I got as creative as I could but I don't think the presentation desk liked it. I don't know what they ran but if it had been up to me it would have been this one. At least it's bright right.

Streetlight named....

Oh hell who cares right? Well kids it isn't all galmorous as any true blue Photojournalist will tell ya. Trent did an awesome post on this a while back and I won't try to out do it by any means. But shooting a streetlight for an illustration simply cracked me up. Don't get me wrong, I took out a 400 with a converter and staked out a good spot and watched out to keep a clean background off to the right for copy. I fulfilled my photog duties for the day. lol. BTW as you probably already know this is a composite image. :)

V Ball

I'm tellin' ya, V Ball is tough, rough, and merciless. Hardest sport I shoot bar none. My goal this year is to get a portfolio pic out of it. We'll see, trust me you guys will be the first to know.

Antelope Island

So I was assigned to shoot the low water line of the Great Salt Lake the other day. I always have heard of Antelope Island but I'd never been there. In fact, I'd never been to the Lake at all. Having lived here for 3 years now and considering the job I have it's quite strange I thought. But there I was, so I shot some images and did a little hiking. Good stuff.
